About Emmy Squared Pizza: East Village

Praised by reviewers as β€œmust try” and β€œa welcome addition” to Manhattan’s vast pizza scene, Emmy Squared Pizza introduced our one-of-a-kind fare to the East Village in July 2018. Founded on an unconditional love of well-made food, Emmy Squared combined a New York style β€œgrandma” pie with a Detroit style pizza, and then topped it off with an added dose of culinary creativity. But we didn’t stop at our pizza, Emmy’s Le Big Matt Burger has been recognized as one of "The Best New Burgers in NYC" (Gothamist) and one of the "20 Best Burgers in NYC" (Infatuation).

Emmy Squared Pizza: East Village is a pizza restaurant in New York, New York. It is listed at 83 1st Ave, New York, NY 10003, which places it among the local businesses of New York that residents and visitors turn to when they need this kind of service close by. Besides its main category, the business also describes itself as hamburger restaurant, american restaurant, pizza takeout, so it may cover more than the name suggests.

Pizza places in the United States run from a counter with two stools and a stack of boxes to a full sit-down pizzeria with a bar, and most neighborhood shops do all three things at once: dine-in, takeout and delivery. Ordering by phone is still common and often faster than an app, and many independents charge less when you call direct because there is no platform fee. Sizes are usually listed in inches (a small around 10", a large 14", an extra-large 16" or more), and a large feeds two to three adults. Slices are sold from a display case at New York-style counters and reheated to order; whole pies take 15-25 minutes at a busy shop. Most spots take cards and mobile pay, though a few older pizzerias remain cash-only, so check the door or the listing before you order.

The business lists hours on 7 days of the week. Typical hours are 4–10 pm. As with most places, expect changes around holidays; the phone number below is the fastest way to confirm. The listed phone number is (917) 463-3737. Many businesses also reply to text messages on the same number if it is a cell phone.

Customers rate it 4.5 out of 5 on Google across 779 reviews, placing it among the better-regarded pizza restaurants in New York.

New York is in New York, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. Traffic in New York peaks on weekday mornings and afternoons, so allow extra time then. Addresses read from the street number up to the city, state abbreviation and five-digit ZIP code; the map link on this page shows the exact spot.

Took my father for a late Father’s Day meal and had such a great experience. We showed up rather early but were seated immediately. Working in hospitality you can tell when an establishment puts in the extra effort to ensure you are enjoying yourself and the staff there did not disappoint. Our server and the manager made sure to check in and that my dad felt taken care of. Would definitely recommend and will be returning. Thank you to the staff for making our outing that much more special.

Eat here! Everything I had here was amazing. Highly recommend the burger, it is definitely on the top of my list for burgers. Loved the pizza as well, the crust is perfectly crisp, doesn't skimp on the cheese and ample amount of toppings!

Had an amazing time and lunch with family at Emmy Squared. We were greeted when we walked in and also had the pleasure of having our table served by China. Pleasant, welcoming and attentive to customers. This place does a great job of finding balance between modern cool and vintage charm with the decor and set up. Seating and tables are comfortable. Great for parties of varying sizes. We started with the Mozzarella sticks, Boneless Sriracha wings and a few beers. Followed that with two shareable Cesar salads, and Cheesy Garlic Sticks. For the pizza, we ordered the Margherita, the Founders and lastly the Meatsiah. (We were a party of 9) Also serving our table was Nicky, which we later learned was the shop manager. Clearly she sets a standard for customer service. We were treated to good food, quality customer service and care. I’m happy to recommend Emmy Squared and to say I’ll be a returning customer.

Absolutely loved this place. The atmosphere was fun and unique right from the moment we walked in. The dinosaur decorations tucked into the plants and shelves gave the restaurant a really cool personality without feeling over the top. It made the whole experience feel relaxed, creative, and memorable instead of just another pizza spot. The food was even better than the atmosphere. The Detroit-style pizza was outstanding β€” perfectly crispy edges, thick and soft inside, loaded with cheese, and topped with an incredible sauce. You can tell they put a lot of effort into getting the texture and flavor right. Every slice had that perfect balance of crunch, cheese, and rich tomato flavor. One of the best Detroit-style pizzas I’ve had in a long time. We also tried the pesto bread appetizer and it was fantastic. The bread was cheesy, flavorful, and paired perfectly with the dipping sauce. Simple but done really well. Definitely worth ordering. The restaurant itself had a warm rustic vibe with the wood tables, brick walls, and fun details throughout the dining area. It felt casual and comfortable while still being a place you’d want to stay and hang out for a while. Service was friendly,

I stopped by for the first time today, and this place was so amazing. I sat at the bar, and Ant the bartender was very attentive, personable, and knowledgeable of the menu. He made me feel at home, and made my experience great. We ordered the Margherita pizza which was delicious and had burrata on every square. We also ordered the garlic sticks and it was full of flavor and even had pesto sauce drizzled on top. The cocktails were good, I had an espresso martini, and my date had a skinny margarita. The pizza was so good, that we ordered another one to go, and even the decor of the box was creative. The decor and ambiance is really nice as well. Overall, my experience here was a 20 out of 10.
